Hosting Thanksgiving is Stressful.

So, we created Lie Pie: a kit for hosts to make it seem like they baked a delicious pumpkin pie
from scratch — taking dessert off their plate, and impressing guests without any stress.

Was it morally dubious? Yes. Was it for a great cause? Also yes.

100% of the proceeds went to Canada’s largest food rescue organization, ensuring families in need didn’t go hungry on Thanksgiving.

What was my Role?

  • Writing copy for the interior and exterior of the Lie Pie box — kit components, instructions, and smile lines. Even “Grandma’s Recipe Card”.

  • Writing the web copy, including headings and body copy for the landing page and “Sold out” page.

Behind the Scenes Stuff:

  • They were doing stills for a men’s underwear catalogue in the adjoining studio during our photo shoot.

  • When I served my own Lie Pie on Thanksgiving, it was the first time my Irish roommate had ever eaten pumpkin pie. (He said he liked Carrot Cake more.)
